Hannah Maxwell's testimony July 2002

I was born on 21st September 1984 into a Christian family but this didn't make me a Christian. It all happened when I was about l0 years old. My family and I were in Weymouth for a Beach Mission. Mum and Jo had stayed at the caravan and I had gone with Dad to an after-church Open Air Service held on the beach. While Dad was preaching some lads, who claimed to be Satanists, walked up and started throwing beer cans at Dad and burning the gospel tracts which were being handed out with lighters and shouting. I didn't like it and just wanted to go home. When Dad had finished speaking the Satanists surrounded him as he came on to the prom. And tried to set him alight with cigarette lighters but it didn't work, fortunately, or upset him unduly.

When we were back at the caravan I asked about what had been happening and why they were attacking Dad. Dad explained it happened because the Satanists didn't like the message he was preaching. That Jesus died on the cross for everyone's sins and the only way I could deal with this was to ask the Lord Jesus into my heart to be my Saviour. So that night I trusted the Lord Jesus and asked him into my heart and I was changed so I would be fit for heaven.

I put Baptism off for a very long time because I wanted it to be the right time. Last year at Cheddar Camp (2001) on the Thursday night, Marcus Hall challenged me when he said, "If you love the Lord you should be baptised as it says in the Bible". So afterwards I had a chat with my tent leader, Lois Stock, about baptism and later that night I phoned my parents from camp and told them and they were really happy. That is my story and I challenge you if you are saved then follow the Lord Jesus by being baptised. If you aren't saved trust Him today for Jesus is alive.
