Let us return to Numbers 15 having looked at the free-will offerings we now come to the offerings made for sin. It is interesting to note they are divided into 3 types of sins. The first is where the whole congregation sinned unintentionally, the second is where an individual sinned unintentionally and finally there is the sin committed intentionally.
None of us are perfect and no matter how much we try we do sin.. We do not set out to sin, but we get caught in a situation and it seems cannot stop ourselves from sinning. Perhaps we have done something wrong and when caught out the temptation to lie is just too much. But however many excuses we want to make it is still sin, and God demands a price for that sin. In the Old Testament that price was one bull. Thank God that under the new Testament then if we've trusted in Christ for our Salvation then that price has already been paid. Let's remind ourselves of 1 John 2v1: Satan would love to send us on a guilt trip after we have sinned, to make us feel unworthy of being a Christian. When he does we have to remind ourselves of these verses, to remind us that while as Christians we shouldn't sin, we are still human and do sin. While it is true that having trusted in Christ all our sins are forgiven that should never be an excuse for us to continue in sin. We need to turn away from our sin and seek to follow Him.
