Another month past, and I’d like to share with you some thoughts that I have spent some time thinking about over the past few weeks and the same thought that came to me back in January, when the month of October seemed so far away but here we are and heading at break neck speed into November. I wander how often you think about the Lord’s return?? So many people say nowadays that it should have come and gone ages ago, others say it is still to happen and therefore it makes me think about the Bible and the return of our Saviour and Lord.
The text that comes to mind is 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18: WOW! Now I wander what that makes you think?? It makes me think. I don’t know whether you are aware, but my job in the Police Force as an officer, brings me into some situations that involve death. One minute, a person is alive, well and of an age where they aren’t expecting death, yet minutes later they have passed from this life. Just a few brief thoughts on this passage. It states that the Lord Himself – that’s a thought in itself. There will be a shout, with archangel voice, and trump of God, now I wander do you ever think will you hear this call amongst all that goes on in the world today? It is very difficult to hear the voice of God at the best of times, so will you be in a position to hear his call when it should come? Meeting the Lord in the air, what an event that will be. We celebrate many things in life and in the light of all possible celebrations, this will be one big event that we cannot miss, it’ll only happen once. Being with the Lord forever. Maybe at this stage in your life, as you have only experienced life as it is today, it may be difficult to envisage what this eternity, forever with the Lord will be like, difficult but an amazing and true fact that one day will happen. The next bit…..Comfort one another with these words. It should be a comforting thing, that one day, all the aches and pains of this world, and the worldly events that take place will be passed and all who love him, both those who have already passed from this world and those who remain, will be in heaven with their Lord and Saviour.
