ASSEMBLY YOUTH

Lord's return
Work to be done
by A. Wood

And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. (Luke 19v13)

So you have accepted God's offer of salvation. That's wonderful, now what are you going to do until He comes again? As the nobleman in this parable had gone to receive a great kingdom so has Christ. As this nobleman gave his servants, pounds, so Christ, has through the Holy Spirit given us gifts. Like the servants we have to work out what we are going to do with these gifts.

We can choose to be like the bad servant and just leave our gift alone and focus on living for ourselves. We can just hide our light under a bushel (see Matthew 5v14-16). Or we can seek to serve Christ, to let our light shine out for Him. To use the gifts He has given us, for His glory. So that when He comes we might hear those words: Well done, good and faithful servant (from Matthew 25v23).

So until Christ comes, let us seek to serve Him with the gifts He has given us.
