The role of God in the Bible
Lamentations
by S. Latham

This month we look into the book of Lamentations, and in my experience, nowadays this book doesn’t seem to be referred to much.

After much study into this book, I found that in this book of the Bible, God directly is only mentioned once, but we see in chapter 3 verse 23, a very popular and mentioned sometimes by people, and of course the hymn that is sung re-iterates this verse of Scripture.

It reads: “They are new every Morning, Great is Thy Faithfulness”
A basic verse, but has an immense meaning.
Can we question the faithfulness of God? Can you look back in your life and see a point where you honestly felt that you have been left on your own, and God’s faithfulness has failed you? We see His faithfulness shining through in many ways, the most important one being of course on the cross at Calvary. He could have commanded His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ to come down from the cross and save himself, but His devotion, pure love and faithfulness was shown in a way that could only be shown by Him.

I wander whether you think about the faithfulness of God? I wander does it cheer you to know that even when we mess up, even when we fail, and do things wrong, let people down, He remains faithful.

We see in this book, God as the ever faithful one, upon who, we can and must depend.
