But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. (Revelation 2v4) Do you remember those days, when nothing seemed to matter but that Christ died for you? The feeling of joy when you first learnt of Christ as your Saviour. But now, well there's so much to do, perfectly legitimate things, some of it is service for Him, there's education, the day job, perhaps even the family to care for. There is a danger we can be so burdened with doing things, that we don't take time out and spend it with Christ. Lets read what Christ had to say to the Ephesians, first of all He praised them, for there was a lot of good they were doing. They were working together for Christ, they had dealt with false prophets and put them out, they were enduring persecution, but something was lacking. Ever felt like that, that you are doing everything you feel you should be doing but something is missing? It's possible that you are not spending enough time alone with Christ. Oh, to the outside world everything may seem fine, but inside you know something is wrong. Well the only thing you can do is stop and make room for Him. To take time out of your busy schedule and spend some time in the quiet place alone with Christ. Believe me, time spent with the Master is the most important time we can spend, and you might just find that you are able to do just as much as you are doing, if not more, because the time spent with Christ has re-energised you. So in the month that lies ahead, as you seek to serve Christ, don't forget to take time out and spend it alone with Him.
