As I drove to work at 0700 last week, the sun was rising; the clouds were a sight to see. This caused me to think of the marvellous creation and world in which we have residence. As a part of today's society which either goes on the 'big bang' theory or we came from no-where and we are going no-where. How sad! Jesus spans the past, present, and future of the created order. In Him, the verb 'created' loses its captivity to the past historic tense. It is true to say that Jesus created everything, but it is also true to say that he goes on creating - holding everything together moment by moment. The act of creation is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year ongoing declaration of God's love. To speak of God, as a Creator is not to describe a job He once held for six days many years ago. It is to speak of an ongoing dynamic relationship between the eternal God and the universe he has made. The Bible says in Colossians ch1 v 17 "He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together" It took science 20 centuries to catch up with this idea. Since Einstein physicists have been in the search for the 'theory of everything' - the unifying principal by which the whole universe exists. Jesus is that principle - through a moment-by-moment decision of His will and love, he holds everything together. We can't breathe without Jesus.
