Thought for the month
Testimony
by S. Latham

This month I’d like to write briefly about a subject that is on display to those all around us at all times. Do you ever wander what other people might see in terms of testimony if they saw your daily lives?? Those we work with, those we live near, our circle of friends?

The reason I say this, I saw a video clip a few weeks ago and it really challenged me. The video showed a typical busy traffic situation, where queues are long, all vehicles were crawling along at snails pace and tempers were running high and frayed. I am sure for everyone who travels around can associate to this scenario. I’m sure we’ve all been there.

The video goes on to show what starts as a disagreement between 2 drivers. One of the drivers gave the other one a real shouting at. This goes on for a few minutes before both drivers “agree to disagree”.

The following bit of the clip it shows the driver who was shouting sat in church at the back, then a “visitor” walks in the door, for it to be the other driver of the argument. I know this seems a very rare scenario, but something that challenged me.

Does our testimony not only shine the light of the Lord Jesus Christ who dies for us to those we have daily contact with, colleagues, neighbours, family but those who are complete strangers who may come into our path sometimes – like this driver illustration.

The Lord Jesus gave us something worth telling others about – our faith – His love – His sacrifice – I challenge you this month – is your testimony shining to everyone on a daily basis, being a Christian is a 24/7 thing not something we can put to the side when someone cuts us up on the road or does something we don’t like. May your testimony be an Honour to Him most importantly, and be seen by others around us as one that sets us apart from the world.
