Thought for the month
What excites you?
by S. Latham

I wander what gets you really excited? Is it a holiday? Maybe it’s the thought of a new car or even job? Is it Jesus?

Isn't it really easy to get ready, in expectation about something, getting excited and maybe even not sleeping in the night because your so hyped up in anticiapation and excitement. Do some verses in John chapter 16 do anything for you? I am referring to one specific verse, it is verse 33. Which reads "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world"
What does this mean to you? Does it excite you to know that He has overcome all?

There are many things we can take from this verse, which can encourage us as we walk our daily life with and for Him.
Firstly, the promise is "spoken" by Jesus, and therefore we have no fear that the promise will not be fulfilled or isnt true.
Secondly, "in Me you may have peace". In a world of wickedness and unrest, where much evil is around to snare us in our walk, we can have peace from Him. Have you ever experienced the peace of God. When I went through a difficult patch in my life, and I'm sure we all do, I felt the true peace, that cannot be compared to the peace of any other. To rest in the peace of Jesus is an amazing and very real thing that you can experience too.
Thirdly, we are to be of good cheer, even though we are in a world of tribulation. Now I know this isn't a very easy thing to do, but surely we have reasons to be of good cheer? We're saved by the grace of God, and the precious blood of His Son, isnt this something worth being happy about? We have a wanderful Saviour! Now if that isnt enough to be of good cheer, the next few words should change things! "I have overcome the world!" Now does this excite you? The Lord Jesus Christ has fought the battle, paid the price for YOU, overcoming the world is something only he can truely say! Isn't that wonderful? Excited?
