For this month's editorial, I want to look at one verse in the Gospel of Luke, which is in chapter 17 and verse 13. Here we see in verses 11 – 19 of this chapter, the account of 10 lepers that needed cleansing. There is one verse that has stood out to me and it reads “And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” Those words in that verse comes from people who had the disease leprosy. They lifted up their voices, not quietly, but so that Jesus could hear, it was how they addressed Him that has made me think. They called out “Jesus, Master” It wasn’t any other name, but they realized as lepers that Jesus was their Master. Now as we approach the time most of us know as Easter, when we, as Christians remember Jesus’ death and resurrection, I wander how we approach Jesus? Is He our Saviour, Friend, Master? Is Jesus our Master in Life? He should be, and we, as sinners saved by grace, should approach Him accordingly. I was at a conference a few years ago, and one of the people responsible for leading the meeting, approached Jesus as Dad. This is not the way to approach Jesus, and the people suffering from leprosy knew that too. I also note from reading on from verse 13, that having been cleansed, only one returned to give praise to Him. I wander and challenge you, when we were saved, through the finished work on the cross, how many of us not only praised Him then, but continue to praise Him even now??
