The role of God in the Bible
Luke
by S. Latham

As we move on in the Gospels, the March edition of the magazine brings us into the book of Luke. The word God appears many times in this book, in fact over 110 times, so to find the role of God in this book has not been an easy task! I also have noticed in this book that the words “Son of Man” are used on many occasions.

As in the other Gospels, the birth and crucifixion of Jesus is portrayed in this book.

Firstly, I’d like to draw your attention to Luke 1v37 which reads “For with God, nothing will be impossible”. This verse certainly encourages me, as sometimes we think that something won’t happen, but by doing this we doubt God being able to do the impossible.

Moving onto chapter 12 verse 6 which reads “Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God”. This verse makes me realize that God never forgets any person here on earth, isn’t this amazing?!

Luke chapter 15 verse 10 reads “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Here we see the angels of God being joyous when a sinner comes to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. What a thought! God’s angels were full of joy when we came gave our lives to Him.

From this brief study in the book of Luke this month, we can see that God is “the Son of Man, He feels what we are feeling”. As we go into the days that lie ahead, may we remember that God empathises with how we feel, and is always there for us. Amen.
