Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. Having spent the last year looking at how we can live in the light of Christ's soon return, we are now going to spend about a year looking at the I am's of Jesus, most of which are found in John's Gospel The first one is I am the bread of life. In Jesus' time bread represented the necessities of daily living. Everyone needs bread or some other food to survive on. Likewise each of us are incomplete without Christ. As Christians we cannot live Spiritually, without spending time with Him. When we spend time away from Him, focusing on other things, we will feel something lacking in our lives. But if we spend time with Him we will never hunger for Spiritual food for He provides all that we need. Jesus goes on to say that those who believe in Him, will have eternal life. Without food of any kind we will soon die, likewise we will die Spiritually without Christ. But if we believe in Him, we will have eternal life in Heaven. It is amazing when we stop and consider that Jesus Christ, God's Son, the one who created all things, came down from Heaven and died, that we might live.
