Picture the scene in Numbers 14v1-12. The 10 spies have given their discouraging report of the land. The Israelites are talking of finding themselves a new leader and returning to Egypt. What is Moses to do? Pray, always a good idea, but what should he pray for? Especially when the Israelites start talking about stoning him, Aaron and Joshua. But then the glory of the Lord appears and the Lord threatens to strike the people down. How would you react? How do you react when your fellow Christian fails? When they sin against you, do you get angry, do you bad-mouth them to others? Or do you fall on your face and pray for them? Moses interceded on behalf of the people saying: Please pardon the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of your steadfast love, just as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt until now." verse 19 We are all sinners, if we have trusted in Christ then we are sinners saved by Christ. That means none of us are yet perfect. We all fail, what we need is for people to intercede on our behalf for us. To pray that we might be given the strength and wisdom not to sin again. So next time your brother or sister in Christ sins against you, follow Moses example, and pray for them. Please send any comments you have on this article to a.wood@assemblyyouth.net
