I wander how many times you've read the book of Jonah and all about his disobedience to God by running away from Him.What can you learn from this story? Briefly I would like to point a few things. Firstly,How many times have we felt that God is sending us somewhere, or asking us to speak with someone, but we really didn't want to? Maybe its happened to you in the last few days? or weeks? I've experienced it before and although it is somewhere I did not want to go, I went only to find out the real meaning why I was asked to go. God may send you somewhere as He wants you to speak with someone, don't go against Him, He has a plan and therefore a reason. Secondly, if we do go astray, what do we notice in Jonah 1v17? While he was running away, God still had a plan from Him, and although we might be disobeying Him, He still watches over us all the time. Thirdly and finally, we see that when Jonah realised what he was doing, he took a step back, realised it was something God wanted of Him and then he went to Ninevah. Ok we see that He ended up where he was supposed to,but most importantly, we see that throughout Jonah's time,God looked after Him, why? because He loves us. Maybe this month, God wants you to go somewhere? Maybe He wants you to speak with someone, whatever it may be, may we praise Him for being a gracious God, with a plan for us all, and for looking over us while we do His will.
