Wilderness Years
are you possessing the land?
by A. Wood

"... Do not fear him, for I have ..." Numbers 21v34
"... And they possessed his land." Numbers 21v35

So we come to the 2nd half of Numbers 21 and I want to just focus on the last couple of verses, and indeed on these two phrases above. As I read through this passage these two phrases jumped out at me. Can I ask you a question are you afraid? Are you afraid of the world? of the Devil? Can I remind you again of 1 John 4v4: you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. At times life as a Christian can be tough, but let us remember that God is with us, and has placed His Holy Spirit in each one of us.

But being a Christian is not just about the struggles, there are joys to be enjoyed as well. Can I ask you a question, are you possessing the land? You may be thinking what on earth do I mean by that. Well are you living in the good of your Salvation? Do you have that joy of knowing you are Saved? The joy of knowing Christ as your Saviour, and as your friend, it is wonderful to stop and think that there is one in Heaven, who loved me enough to die for me and to die for you.

When the Israelites came into the land, they didn't stop having struggles, they still had enemies to fight, but they possessed more and more of the land. Likewise we have struggles, but we also have joys as we progress in our Christian life, as we get to know God more and become more like His Son, and one day we will be with Him in the glory forever! That day may even be today, how wonderful would that be?
