Thought for the month
Quiet with God
by S. Latham

This month, I’d like to pass on to you something that has been stuck on my mind over the past few days. We all have extremely busy lives, filled with work, family, relatives, various jobs, events, not to forget something we all need, sleep.

The days fly by, and how often we say amongst ourselves how quickly the year is going, “its July already!”. Can you believe we are already half way through the year of 2007?

My question to you this month is a simple one, but one hopefully that’ll make you appreciate my thoughts; Do you “be quiet with God?” I can honestly put my hands up and say I struggle to sit down, in a quiet room, alone, on rising from sleep, to spend valuable time with Him. I’ve written articles on this subject before but as it keeps coming to the forefront of my thoughts, I cannot avoid it.

As Christians, the most important thing in our life, as we walk with the Lord, is to pray to Him, talk to Him, and discover what He wants from us. If I said to all readers, next time you think about going to your supervisor in your place of work, because you need help or guidance, don’t bother going to see him or her, you’d wander what you would do, it is the same with us and our Saviour, the Lord Jesus. We should be going to Him on a regular basis and asking for his guiding hand.

Whilst driving to my place of work, I drive past a local church and currently displaying a large poster outside is displayed. It reads “Exercise daily walk with the Lord”. How true and much needed?

In the month ahead, use your spare time for Him, be “quiet with God” You’ll be surprised what He has to say and the benefit it’ll be to your Christian life and walk with Him.
