For my second article this month, I’d like to share with you an experience that took place just before Christmas whilst at work one day, and relate it to Scripture. Whilst working, the office was asked to stop work as an important person was to enter the room, it didn’t matter what we were doing, we should just stop and await the arrival. When this person walked into the office, all staff found out who this person was and the tension was relieved. As this person walked around the office, he asked each one individually what we were doing before he entered the room. In the meanwhile, the silence of the room, returned to the normal noise level under his instruction, whilst each person was asked questions on a one-to-one basis. I went home that day, and this experience made me think, I was busy doing paperwork on this occasion, chatting and joking with colleagues, but this important visitor to the office, could quite easily been someone who would come and go in the blink of an eye, take me with them, and then want me to explain my actions, not only of before this happens, but of my whole life!! What a thought! As we live our day to day lives, as Christians, we must be careful of what we do and say, where we go, who we see, and as someone once said to me many years ago, before we do something, go somewhere, say something, question ourselves, would the Lord be happy I’m doing this?? Would the Lord be happy not only in Heaven, but if He returned to find us placing bets in the bookies? Drunk in the pub? We read in Matthew chapter 25 verse 13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.” As 2008 unfolds, remember that Jesus could return at any moment, don’t get caught out in what your doing, where you are, what your saying. Ask yourself, would Jesus be pleased with where you are, what you are doing and even what you are saying?
