Christ in all the Scriptures
the road to Emmaus
by A. Wood

And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. (Luke 24v27)

Having spent the last year looking at the I am's of Christ, I would now like to begin a series I may never end. With God's help I would like to look through the Scriptures at the things concerning Christ. While in some senses I will be starting at the beginning of the Bible and working my way through, I may well miss some out along the way, and come back to them another day.

I wonder, what must have it been like for those two disciples on the road to Emmaus? We know they had believed Christ would be their redeemer and yet they had seen Him taken and crucified. Now they are obviously sad but also confused. Sad as they had seen Him die on the cross, and confused because they have heard reports that He may be alive.

But then Christ takes them through the Scriptures, beginning with Moses, He shows them the things concerning Himself. The prophecies that pointed to the suffering Saviour. We read later of how their hearts burned within them as He spoke to them. I hope that some of what I write in the coming months, even years, will likewise lift your spirits and encourage you along the way as we see pictures and prophecies of Christ.
