Last month we looked at how Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego stood firm before Nebuchadnezzar in chapter 3 now we see what happened next.

Nebuchadnezzer is furious with there answer and orders the furnace to be turned up so that it is "heated seven times more than it was usually heated." Then he has the three tied up and thrown into the furnace. The furnace was so hot that Nebuchadnezzer's people are die from the heat and flames of the furnace as they throw Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego into the fire.

And so that is the end of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Or is it? As Nebuchadnezzer looks on he is astonished, as he sees not just the 3 young men alive but a fourth man who is "like a son of the gods." Many believe, and I am inclined to agree, that this fourth man was indeed our Lord Jesus Christ.

To man what happened that day was impossible, no-one could have been delivered from that fiery furnace but with God all things are possible. I don't know what difficulty you are struggling with, it may be physical oppression, it may be a battle against sin, but what ever it is, Jesus Christ can deliver you, call out to Him in faith and He will deliver you.
