Wilderness Years
monthly offerings
by A. Wood

Continuing Numbers 28 we have the monthly offerings. This offering was to be offered at the beginning of every month.

But what do the four offerings that make up the monthly offerings speak of? The Isralites were to offer up a burnt offering, this was a free will offering joy to thank God for what He had done, this typically speaks to us of the pleasure brought to God, by Christ's death. The grain offering would speak to us of the sacrifice of Christ while the drink offering speaks of the joy of the completed work. Finally there was to be a sin offering made, no doubt this would cover sins that perhaps had somehow slipped through the net and not been offered for that month, to us it reminds us of Christ dying for our sins.

At the start of each month it may be a good idea for each of us to take time out and think of the month that has gone by. To consider what we have appreciated of Christ throughout that month. To give thanks for the joy that has been ours throughout that month and to ask for God's forgiveness for any sins we have committed and not already ask God's forgiveness for.
