Thought for the month
Time with God
by S. Latham

This month I’d like to share a few thoughts with you about spending time with God. Over the last month or so, things for me has been extremely busy, extra hours to do at work, people to see, things to sort out, places to go, meetings to attend, I wander does this sound familiar? Well, I’ve had a month like that and subsequently the quiet time spent daily with God has suffered. Ever been in this situation? I’m not asking for loads of emails from readers telling me where I went wrong, but before I slowed down and gave the time He rightfully deserves I was in a situation where the first thing I did was wanted God’s guidance. I felt that I’d put the things of life in His place, the pecking order had changed and the likes of my work demands, and worldly things had pushed God further down the list.

Out of the blue someone called me as they felt the need for a time of prayer albeit over the phone, and during that phone call I was able to admit my errors to God, and God became my priority.

Ever been here? It really isn’t a good situation to be in as spending time, not once or twice a week, but daily, with God, forms the relationship with Him. Reading the Bible, praying and forgetting the things of the world, is the most important thing you’ll do in a day, and the importance of prayer is found many times in Scripture.

Jeremiah chapter 29 verses 12-14 reads
“Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.”

I leave you, and challenge you to remember that God deserves time in your life, in your day, and in all that you do. Don’t push Him away, because your day is busy and you just don’t have the time, He is there for you, and it is up to us, as Christians to ‘be there’ for Him.
