| Thought for the month look to the Lord | by S. Latham | |||||

For my third article this month, I want to look at one verse that a friend of mine sent to me via text message a few days ago. When I initially read the text, I thought I’d save the message, but on when less than a day later, I re-read it, the verse almost came alive! I will share this with you now, but before I do, I feel that as we approach 2008, this is like a refreshment for our souls, giving us a fresh look and reminder at it afresh for 2008. The verse I was sent was from Psalm 105 verse 4. It reads “Look to the Lord and HIS strength; seek His face ALWAYS.”> You may notice from reading the verse, I have capitalised 2 words of the verse, for which there is a reason. I’m first of all, going to split the verse up, Look to the Lord is the first part, and a few questions for you, do you look to the Lord? We may have breezed through 2007 so quickly, with the chaos of life, but not taken the time we should do to look to Him? The second part of this verse is “and HIS strength” This is one of the key parts of the verse in my opinion. This is the reason for capitalising the word HIS. Sometimes we can think we have enough strength to carry on, to keep going, but when we seek HIS strength, we can never fail or fall because He is mighty, His strength never strains under the pressures of life. The third part of this verse, “seek His face ALWAYS”. Seeking His face is important in our walk in the Christian pathway. But I typed the word always in capitals, as this is the key word, not just seeking His face sometimes, when we need it, when times are difficult, but at all times. For if we seek His face, our sights should not be looking at this corrupt world, but looking at Him. As we go into 2008, may we Look to the Lord, His strength, and seek his face at all times throughout the coming year.
