ASSEMBLY YOUTH

Editorial
Have you grown
by S. Latham

In the month of December, I take up the role of deputy editor to bring you the editorial for the magazine.

I have noticed yet again this year how commercialised Christmas has yet again been, and also brought to the forefront of the reasons behind Christmas. I read an article online last week where someone called for it to stop being called Xmas, and given its original name of Christmas – took them long enough to realise what’s been the reasons behind Christmas for years!

For this article, I’d like to ask a few questions of you. If I was to say that Christmas last year doesn’t seem 2 minutes ago, I’m sure most of you would agree. Doesn’t the time fly by? The year 2007 is almost complete, the year 2008 is about to start – another year closer to the Lord’s return. Where are we now – spiritually? Has things changed in your relationship with Him since last Christmas? We so often just remember the Lord’s entering into the world, as is the true meaning of Christmas, then we remember his dying and resurrection at Easter, and before we know it, we’re fast approaching the end of the year and Christmas is once again upon us. Does our belief, just go with the flow of the year? Has our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ developed, grown, since Christmas 2006? Have we been close to the Lord throughout the year of 2007?

Hebrew chapter 11 verse 6 reads “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

How’s your Faith in Jesus? Has it grown? If not, come before God and ask Him, He can remove anything that is getting between you. Use this Christmas to give yourself a check over, and when you have done this, thank Him for the True meaning behind Christmas, and for standing by you throughout 2007, whatever has happened.
