| The Wilderness Years Some people are never happy | by A. Wood | ||||

Time to venture into Numbers 16 and see how the Israelites are getting on in the wilderness. This chapter focuses on the rebellion of Korah. Korah from the tribe of Levi, who were chosen to minister in the tabernacle. But it seems he weren't happy with this responsibility. He wanted to be more than just servant, he wanted to be the priest. So he leads a rebellion, he gathers around 250 men of Israel, 2 of whom are Dathan and Abiram who are sons of Reuben. Their query is a simple enough one, why is Moses in charge, essentially the want to lead the Israelites. They are not content with the role God has given them, are you? There are some who get all the attention, perhaps its the preachers and the teachers? While others do an essential work behind the scenes. If you are one of those behind the scenes workers, then be careful. If you are feeling under-valued, or feel you should have more power than you do have, then take it to the Lord in prayer. Pray that instead of leading a rebellion like Korah did, that instead the Lord's will may be done. Whether it be the Lord helps you learn to be content with the role He has for you, or that He leads you into another role, we need to pray with an open mind and open heart, that above all the Lord's Will may be done. Ok so that's a look at the rebellious, what about Moses? After all he has done for them, with God's help, how does he react? Does he seek for them to be cast down? No, he encourages them to take the matter to the Lord that the Lord may show His will. This is how a leader should react when facing discontentment. Rather than attack back so to speak, they need to take it to the Lord in prayer, and ask for Him to show His Will. We see later the Lord's judgement on the rebellious. There are times when we are aggrieved with how things are done, but rather than rebel, and cause devastation (whether it be via God's judgement or by ripping apart the testimony of the assembly as has happened in the past.) We need to take it to God in prayer and let the Lord work out His will in His time, not ours. Please send any comments you have on this article to a.wood@assemblyyouth.net
