Lord's return
Are you waiting for it?
by A. Wood

And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. (1 Thessalonians 1v10)

And so, another year draws to a close, yep believe it or not, in just a few weeks time 2006 will be over, and 2007 will be upon us. However, you realise not only are we getting closer to 2007, but we are getting closer to the Lord's return. Oh we may not know when He will return, but we know that with each passing day, we are a step closer to that glorious day. But I wonder has it been on your mind this day? this week? this month?

The Thessalonians had turned away from their sinful ways, to serve the Lord God and to wait for His return. If we have trusted in Christ as our Saviour we too should have turned from our sinful ways, to serve our Lord God and to wait for His return. As we approach this new year, what are you waiting for? A new job? Exams? Your birthday? What about Christ's return?

How many of us have sang those words of that old hymn: "Have I an object here below, which would defer thy coming, Lord?" Is this true of you or of me? Is there something that we have placed higher in our lives than Christ's return? What could be more wonderful than that day when we see our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and go to be with Him, for ever.
