The role of God in the Bible
Danieel
by S. Latham

Here we go the Christmas edition and this month we are looking into the book of Daniel. Now lets be honest about this, there is so much we can learn from Daniel in the way he trusted God in everything.

I am sure we all know the story that it is told in Daniel, and we can see how God delivered Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the furnace for refusing to worship Nebuchadnezzar. I wander where we would have stood in this matter? Would we have stood up for our faith, by sticking to the commandments and worshipping no other God? Just some questions that have come to mind whilst studying this book. God is over all in all that happens, and is always watching and knowing what will happen before it will happen – amazing and wonderful isn’t it?

The word God is mentioned in this book (KJV) 66times in 53 verses.

Daniel says in chapter 2 verse 20 – “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever: for wisdom and might are His” We see from Daniel, he gives praise to God – he didn’t say Daniel has wisdom and might, but gives praise to God – would we? Do we? How wonderful it is to be able to praise God for who He is, just like Daniel did?

In chapter 3 verse 17 – we read “If it is so, our God, whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of thy hand, O king”. What a lesson, they are about to be put into a furnace but throughout they are trusting God for everything, even deliverance from the king, that’s impressive don’t you think? Is our faith in God like this? In chapter 3 verse 28> we see that the witness of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego has paid off, because Nebuchadnezzar is looking into the furnace to see that there is a 4th person in the furnace and he believes it to be their God. A witness, that is so strong and true, that even the enemy sees it. Does it with us?

The true faithfulness of God is seen in this, that Daniel is safe, and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego are also safe.

As I conclude these brief few thoughts, I trust you have found them challenging as to how you live your life, how you trust God, and your witness to those who are not saved by God. God is the ancient of days, the everlasting God who never runs out of time.Amen.
