Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you. 1 Peter 5v6 You know how it is. You are up on the mountain top, and enjoying all of life's goodness. And well, you start to be complacent about your Spiritual life. Your daily prayer routine slips as does your Bible reading, but that's ok, all is well and you don't need God. After all He only helps during the bad times, you don't need Him now all is well. But slowly little things go wrong, but well that's all part of life, there's no need to worry. But as more things go wrong, you realise you need help, so you turn to those around you, your family and friends. Things may get a little better for a little while, but then things have gone down hill again. Eventually when all else fails you come to God and ask Him for His help, and in His grace, He brings you back up. It is easy when all is well, to forget about God, to let our Spiritual life slip. We need to humble ourselves before God, in the good times as well as the bad times. Also not to rely on Him as a last resort, but to come to Him at the first. To realise that we need Him at all times, to sustain us, and to cast even our smallest cares upon Him for as verse 7 tells us, He cares for us. So in the monthly that lies ahead, let us try not to let our Spiritual life slip, and if things do start to go wrong, to come to Him first.
