How pure is your life?
by A. Wood

How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. Psalm 119v9

Another question for you this month, this time how pure is your life?

Just sit quietly for a moment and consider this. How pure is your life? As you look you may think well I don't do this, I don't do that, therefore my life is fairly pure. Ok, but how pure are your thoughts? We are all human, and some of us have a big problem with impure thoughts. Those thoughts come into our mind and well, we kind of enjoy having them, thinking upon things that we honestly know we shouldn't think about but well it won't really hurt to think about them for a minute or two will it?

STOP! Sin is sin, whether it is by actions or by thoughts, it is still sin. Let us consider what Christ said in Matthew 5v28: But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. So how can we keep our thoughts pure? The verse at the top of this article has the answer. By focusing on God's holy Word. When was the last time you spent more than a few minutes reading your Bible, when was the last time you memorised a verse? These impure thoughts aren't going to go away over night but by focusing more on God's Word then we will focus less on them. So in the month that lies ahead, let's make an extra effort to spend time in God's Word and even memorize a few verses.
