The role of God in the Bible
Isaiah
by S. Latham

Another month is upon us, so another article is placing us into the book of Isaiah. Whilst studying this book,Ive found it interesting to note that Isaiah has 66 chapters, and could be split just like the Bible is,the first 39 and the last 27! Believe it or not, the first 39 are filled with judgement upon immoral and idolatrous men, but the final 27 chapters declare a message of hope.Ironic or not I dont know!

Well, that aside, the role of God in this book.....definately a tough one, they certainly arent getting any easier! As such, God isnt mentioned much in this book, which of course doesnt make it irrelevant. I think we can see through the first 39 books warns that judgement must come, God cannot allow such blatant sin to go unpunished forever. Do we see Him as a God that will judge us? Judge those around us? Now to me, that makes me want to tell others about the Lord Jesus, tell them what they're facing without God? A lost eternity? Makes you realise what standard you should be living to? I notice in chapter 31 the first few verses would go under the title, the folly of Not Trusting God? Do people we know, in 2006 know of that folly? Probably not?

There's almost a turn around in the last 27 chapters of the book. The Messiah is coming as a Saviour and a Sovereign to bear a cross and to wear a crown. Wow, Excited? The thought, we're going to see the one that saved us,and spend eternity with Him. Praise God!
