This article is the first in a series that is called Fundamental Truth. Its purpose is to remind us of the fundamental doctrines of our Faith.
Scriptural Testimony of Christ's deity.Testimony from the Father. At His Baptism (Matthew 3v17, Mark 1v11, Luke 3v22) after 30 years out of view of the world. God testifys of Jesus as His beloved Son.Then at the Mount of Transfiguration (Matthew 17v5, Mark 9v7, Luke 9v35) the Father again testifys of Jesus as His beloved Son.
Testimony from the ApostlesIn Matthew 16v16: Simon Peter says those often quoted words: "Thou art the Christ, The Son of the living God.In John 1v1-2: Christ, here called the Word, is declare as being God (note in Revelation 19v13 John again calls Christ the Word. In Phillipians 2v5-11: Paul says that Christ "thought it not robbery to be equal with God In Colossians 2v9: Paul declares that "in Him [Christ] dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." In 1 Timothy 3v16: Paul in this wonderful verse calls Christ: "God manifest in the flesh". Other verses: Romans 1v4, Romans 9v5, Hebrews 1v3.
Testimony from others:In Matthew 8v29, Mark 1v24, Mark 3v11, Luke 4v11: Various demons confess Christ's deity. In John 1v34: John the Baptist calls Jesus, The Son of God. There are other verses that testify of Christ's deity but these are the ones I have picked out. Having looked at the verses which testify of Christ' deity, next monthy we shall look at those verses that testify of His humanity.
