Dare to be a Daniel
the fearful vision
by A. Wood

Having made general comments last month about Daniel 10, I want to take a moment to consider the fearful vision. Daniel sees a "great vision" some have compared the man to the description of Christ in Revelation 1v12-16 however, we later read that this man needed the help of the archangel Michael, so it is unlikely that it was Christ but rather an unnamed angel. Only Daniel saw this vision, it was for Daniel alone to see, the angel had come with a message for Daniel which the others would not understand.

We read at the top of this chapter that Daniel had been mourning for 3 weeks, in this time, the angel had been trying to reach Daniel but had been hindered by "the prince of Persia". The word prince is an interesting one, it does not mean the son of a human king as we would think, but an angel assigned to either one person or one nation, we know from Hebrews 1v14 that God sends angels to help us.

It is easy to forget when we are the thick of things that there is an unseen Spiritual battle going on, sometimes we need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. It may be that God and the devil are fighting over parts of our lives, and we need to decide whose side we are on, and call on God's help through prayer. We see here that another angel strengthened and encouraged Daniel.
