Thought for the month
Second coming
by S. Latham

I wander what you are looking forward to - in life? I spoke with a friend of mine a few weeks ago who told me he was looking forward to the world cup starting, and being able to watch England take on the many other countries participating. Maybe you're looking forward to starting a new job? Maybe it's a new car? A Holiday abroad, somewhere sunny? Seeing a relative you've not seen for months or maybe years?

We all must have something we look forward to in life - whatever it may be. How much can this want, this event we are looking forward to, have an effect on our lives? How often have you heard someone in your workplace, say they can't wait for a week's time when they will be off work and going away for a break somewhere? I'm not saying looking forward to something isn't right at all, or that we shouldn't look forward to events, but I wander how many times you've said to yourself, I can't wait for the Lord Jesus to come again?

Is the Lord Jesus' coming in the front of your mind? Is it something you're looking forward to? Is it something you can mark in your mind like you would a holiday or a car? I wander, and we can all be guilty of it sometimes, we can look forward to worldly, earthly events but not of the Lord Jesus coming a 2nd time like He promised? The well known Scripture, in John chapter 14v 1-4 we read of the promise that Jesus gives to the disciples, in comfort, that He is preparing a place for them, that where He is, they can be also. Now is this something you're looking forward to? We have remembered that He rose again the third day, and here we see He promises to prepare a place, that we might be with Him. May I challenge you to bring this exciting event to the forefront of your mind, because as He says, "I will come again". Now that's something that's worth looking forward to!
